BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD
BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD
(1 October – 31 March)
The statutory bush fire danger period (NSW Rural Fires Act 1997) runs from 1st October to 31st March. This is the time when our area and elsewhere in the State are particularly prone to the threat of wildfire. It is also the time when you need to have your Bushfire Survival Plan prepared and be ready to implement, sometimes at very short notice.
To report fires or smoke sightings ALWAYS ring Triple Zero (000)
Burning off, if you must do it at all, should be reserved for the cooler months of the year. If, however, you are planning to light a fire in the open between 1st October and 31st March, you will need a Fire Permit.

New Residents' Guide now available!
The Wamboin Community Association (WCA) has published a New Residents’ Guide that is available free to all new (less than 2 years) residents of Wamboin.
The Guide is intended to:
- create a “meet & greet” opportunity for residents to introduce themselves and the Wamboin community to their newly arrived neighbours
- inform new residents of social, community, sporting and other groups and organisations that operate in the area
- facilitate and encourage new residents to join the Wamboin Community Association, and
- pass on useful hints about rural living.
If you have new neighbours and you'd like to give them a copy, or if you're new to the area and don't yet have a copy, you can pick one up at the WCA stall at the monthly Home Produce Markets. Or email the WCA Secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org) to arrange your copy.
